Ben Shelton’s sister Emma has reacted as the American qualified for the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, 30 years after his father Bryan achieved the same feat. In a match that lasted for three hours and four minutes, Shelton defeated Denis Shapovalov on Saturday 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Ben Shelton's dad, Bryan, was also a professional tennis player, who competed on the ATP Tour between 1989 and 1997. He achieved a career-high ranking of No. 55 and won two ATP titles while active. Featuring in all four Grand Slams, his best record remains reaching the fourth round of the 1994 Wimbledon Championships, where he was eliminated by Per Christian Bergström 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Following the 21-year-old's victory over Shapovalov on Saturday, Ben Shelton's sister Emma shared two pictures reacting to his victory on her Instagram story.

“Let's gooooo” she captioned the first image

The second story was a collage featuring a picture of their father and Shelton both in the white tennis gear of Wimbledon, with a couple of love images added to it.

Shelton's fourth-round opponent at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships will be World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Before defeating Shapovalov, the American won Mattia Bellucci in the first round and Lloyd Harris in the second round.

This season, Shelton won his second ATP title at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships, defeating Zizou Bergs, Brandon Nakashima, Tomás Martín Etcheverry, and his compatriot Frances Tiafoe in the final.

Sinner, on the other hand, is having the best season of his career, winning four titles so far. He became the first Italian to win the Australian Open and went on to win the Rotterdam Open, Miami Open, and most recently the Halle Open.

While Shelton is having his best run at Wimbledon, Sinner had his best run at the tournament in the 2023 edition when he reached the semifinals before being defeated by Novak Djokovic.

Sinner began his Wimbledon title pursuit with a win over Yannick Hanfmann in the first round, then moved on to defeat his countryman Matteo Berrettini in the second round, and in the third round, he defeated Miomir Kecmanović.

Ben Shelton and Jannik Sinner have faced each other three times on the ATP Tour, with the Italian winning two of those meetings, including their most recent clash in the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters.
