Ben Shelton's sister Emma shared the hilarious moment of Carlos Alcaraz playfully 'beating up' Ben at the 2024 Garden Cup exhibition. The Spaniard went over to the American, who fell over during one of their electrifying rallies, but what ensued left everyone in splits.
Shelton and Alcaraz played each other at the iconic Madison Square Garden for the Garden Cup exhibition. The two displayed the highest level of tennis but it was the Spaniard, who ended up clinching the cup after staging an impressive comeback from a set down to win 4-6, 6-2, 1-0.
During one of the rallies in the opening set, Alcaraz forced Shelton to run over to the net and stretch his entire body in order to return a ball. The full stretch led the American to take a tumble, which the Spaniard took full advantage of by just comfortably volleying the ball to the other side.
The 21-year-old immediately rushed over to Shelton, who was lying on the ground, seemingly to help him. In a hilarious turn of events, Carlos Alcaraz started to act as if he was beating Ben Shelton up leaving everyone in splits.
Ben Shelton's elder sister Emma, who is often seen supporting her Ben, captured the rib-tickling moment and shared it on her Instagram Story. She wrote:
"Showtime."
Though Alcaraz won the match, he hailed Shelton as the highlight reel during a post-match interaction.
"The highlights of the match is yours" - Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz share a hilarious reaction after their match
After their phenomenal thriller at the Garden Cup, Ben Shelton shared a hilarious interaction with Carlos Alcaraz. He could be seen recording a video where he showed the man who 'beat him'.
"Yo I'mma show you guys the guy who just beat me at The Garden, but I think we put on a show, we had a good time."
However, the Spaniard said that the American was the highlight reel.
"The highlights of the match is yours."
Following which Shelton quipped,
"He won, but I had shot of the match and that's all that matters."
"That's for sure," Alcaraz added.
Shelton and Alcaraz ended the video with both men hitting up a peace sign and the American addressing them as twins.
"Yeah twins, see ya."
Shelton and Alcaraz have played each other twice with the Spaniard having won on both occasions.
