Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu is all set to make her Olympic debut in Paris 2024. Andreescu recently showed off a gift she received from Lululemon, the official outfitter of Team Canada. The gift was a pair of collectible pins from a limited edition athlete kit for the Olympics, one featuring a fire symbol and the other a maple leaf with the Canadian Olympic Committee logo.
Lululemon is an American-Canadian athletic apparel company that has been supporting Team Canada since 2021 when it signed a seven-year partnership deal with the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
The company has designed and produced the athlete kits for the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic teams for the 2022 Beijing Winter Games and the 2024 Paris Summer Games. The kits include clothing, accessories, and pins that reflect the Canadian identity and culture.
Andreescu was thrilled to receive her pins from Lululemon. The Canadian shared a photo of herself holding the pins on her Instagram account on July 22. She captioned the photo with a string of heart-eyes emoji.
Bianca Andreescu also showcased her Canada-themed nail art, adorned with the country's red and white colors.
"Playing at the Olympic Games has been a huge goal of mine" - Bianca Andreescu
Former World No. 4 Bianca Andreescu made her comeback on the WTA tour after a nine-month-long injury hiatus in May 2024 and produced decent results in the subsequent tournaments.
Andreescu reached the final at the 2024 Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, where she lost 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 to second seed Liudmila Samsonova. The Canadian recently concluded her 2024 Wimbledon campaign with a 6-7(4), 1-6 loss to eventual runner-up Jasmine Paolini in the third round.
In a Tennis Canada press release, Andreescu shared her eagerness to represent Canada at the Paris Olympics, a goal she's had during her injury recovery.
"Playing at the Olympic Games has been a huge goal of mine these past few months as I have been working my way back from injury," Andreescu said.
"It is always an honour to represent my country and I cannot wait to do that again alongside Canada’s incredible team of athletes on the world’s biggest stage in Paris. This is a dream come true and I can’t wait to soak up the Olympic atmosphere and give it everything," she added.
Bianca Andreescu is one of the five tennis players who will represent Canada at the Olympics, along with Leylah Fernandez, Gabriela Dabrowski, Milos Raonic, and Felix Auger-Aliassime. Andreescu will compete in the singles event, where she has been granted a main draw entry via protected ranking, as she missed the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to injuries.
