Bianca Andreescu: "I would like to win very, very soon another Grand Slam, another 1000 event"

Despite struggling with her form for a long time, Bianca Andreescu is determined to improve and win a Grand Slam or a WTA 1000 title soon.

Turning pro in 2017, the Canadian star had a breakthrough year in 2019 when she won three big titles. She defeated three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber in the final of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells before edging out 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the finals of the Canadian Open and the US Open.

However, the 22-year-old has been unable to add to her title tally since then, with her best result in the Grand Slam tournaments being the fourth round. After losing to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the third round of the 2023 Indian Wells Open recently, Andreescu kicked off her Miami Open campaign with a win against 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu.

The World No. 31 beat the Brit 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 after the two players battled for two hours and 33 minutes. In a post-match press conference, Andreescu expressed satisfaction with her momentum and stated that she was feeling good on the court, regardless of the results.

"I feel like my momentum throughout my matches has been pretty consistent," Bianca Andreescu said. "Yeah, I'm not winning all the time, but I also feel like... just I'm feeling good."

The former World No. 4 remarked that although she wasn't putting any kind of pressure on herself, she was looking forward to winning another Major or a WTA 1000 title.

"I don't want to put any pressure on myself. Whenever it comes, it comes. But I would like to win very, very soon, if possible, another Grand Slam, another 1000 event. Hopefully, it's here. But, yeah, no pressure," she added.

Right before the 2023 Australian Open, Netflix released the first five episodes of the tennis documentary, Break Point. It took fans behind the scenes, giving them an insight into what players go through in the locker rooms and in their personal lives. The next five episodes of the docuseries will be released in June this year and will cover the tournaments in the second half of 2022.

After her first-round win at the 2023 Miami Open, Bianca Andreescu was asked if she saw herself as a part of the show, to which she enthusiastically said:

"For sure, would love to be on the show. I love reality TV. That's literally all I watch, unless 'You' is on, that TV show. I love the show 'Schitt's Creek', as well. I think it's a Canadian show, too. I would love to be on the show [Break Point]. I think it's a great showcase of what it is to be a tennis player."

Andreescu is set to take on seventh-seed Maria Sakkari in the second round in Miami.
