Bianca Andreescu reveals hilarious reason behind coming to Wimbledon as Canadian reaches career-best 3R at SW19

Bianca Andreescu recently revealed that she came to Wimbledon for the hilarious reason of wanting get a taste of the famous strawberries. The Canadian has now reached the third round of the Grasscourt Major.

Wimbledon is famous for its white players' kits, flamboyant tennis, formal dress code for spectators, and also strawberries. It seems like the Canadian has a fondness for the latter. Strawberries, which are served with cream during the fortnight of the Championships, are famous around the world.

Andreescu shared a hilarious TikTok video on her Instagram story. The video captured a woman wondering about the real reason behind Andreescu's visit, as the 2019 US Open champion relished strawberries out of a carton.

"I feel like you are just here for the strawberries. All you do all day is just get strawberries," she wrote on her Instagram story.

Andreescu has reached the third round at Wimbledon for the second time in her career after securing a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory over Linda Noskova in the second round. Earlier, she also defeated Jaqueline Cristian 6-4, 6-2 in the first round.

The Canadian stated that she was happy with her performance at the Grasscourt Major in an interview with the Tennis Channel after her second-round win.

"I felt really good out there and then seeing the stats I was like, 'Wow that’s great.' I guess confirmation with how I was feeling out there. I don’t think I ever have that little unforced errors versus winners. So I am not complaining. I feel really good, so yeah that’s all I can say. I am feeling really really good," Andreescu said.

Bianca Andreescu also talked about her newfound fondness for grass courts during the interview with Tennis Channel.

She mentioned that she has been improving various aspects of her game, such as her service and increased net play, to better adapt to this surface.

"I feel like it's getting up there with hard court. I am really really liking it. I like that it's short and sweet, basically short points. The most important shots are the first three shots basically. So I have been doing that really well. My serve has been improving a lot. That’s been one of the main things I have been working on and coming to the net too," Andreescu said.

Bianca Andreescu will now face the 2024 French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini in the third round at Wimbledon 2024.
