American WTA player Sachia Vickery hit back at a racist attack from a fan. She endured it after losing in the qualifying round of the 2025 ASB Classic.

Vickery was eyeing a berth in the main draw of the 2025 ASB Classic and defeated Luisa Pigossi in her opening qualifying round match in Auckland. The American then faced Nao Hibino in the second round on December 29 and lost in straight sets to the Japanese. After the defeat, she received hateful and abusive messages from fans.

Tennis players have often taken to social media to shed light on the dark side of the sport when fans hurl abuse and racist comments after losing money due to betting. Sachia Vickery also shared a racist and offensive message she received from a fan on Instagram after losing in the ASB Classic qualifiers.

In the message, the user called Vickery a "monkey" and her mother a "wh*re" and wished that her family died from "cancer." The American hit back and pointed out that the user must have lost money. She also called out Instagram for not censoring such racist messages on the app.

"Ugly ahit, ur mother die U f**king monkey don't play tennis. I f**ked your whole family, daughter of a f**king Black wh*re. I just hope your whole family dies from cancer. f**king monkey you are the worst. I hope your wh*re mother dies today!!! I will pray for this. AMEN!!!! F**king monkey die. "I made you lose some money huh you big mad Btw your mom is a dusty ass h*e tell her get back on the streets to sell her loose stink washed up pum pum to hit the crack pipes," Vickery hit back.
"And so it begins I had to crash out one time before the end of the year get it out my system @instagram how is it that these types of messages aren't sensored ?" the American added.
