Six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker recently praised LeBron James as the American basketball icon celebrated his 40th birthday on Monday, December 30. James has dominated basketball for over two decades, earning numerous accolades and awards.
James, who currently holds a networth of $ 1.2 billion (via Forbes), is the first NBA player to surpass 40,000 career points and the second to play 22 seasons. As a forward, the 40-year-old has tallied 11,261 assists—the most in league history. Additionally, the American claimed the top spot in career playoff points in 2017, surpassing Michael Jordan, and set the record for career playoff wins in 2022.
James is also a four-time NBA MVP, a four-time NBA champion, and a four-time NBA Finals MVP. He has also secured three Olympic gold medals during his illustrious career.
The NBA wished LeBron James on his 40th birthday by compiling a set of his accomplishments, and Boris Becker shared their post, stating:
"LeBron is a beast !" He said.
In a recent interview with GMA News, James addressed a question about his retirement. The three-time Olympic gold medalist remarked that while he could potentially play for another seven years, he has no plans to do so.
"To be honest, if I really wanted to, I could probably play this game at a high level probably for about another -- it's weird that I might say this -- but probably about another 5-7 years, if I wanted to. But I'm not going to do that. It won't be because I can't play this game at a high level," he said.
Boris Becker, a devoted basketball fan, expressed his admiration earlier this year when LeBron James achieved another historic milestone in the NBA.
"Father & son first time together": Boris Becker shared a positive reaction after LeBron James and his son Bronny James created history
Boris Becker responded to the historic moment when LeBron James and his son Bronny became the first father-son duo to play on the same NBA team. The duo currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The historic moment unfolded on October 6, during a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, coinciding with Bronny's 20th birthday, marking the first father-son duo to participate in an NBA game.
Becker took to Instagram to spotlight the historic achievement, sharing a post from Bleacher Report. He captioned it:
"Father & son first time together on the floor..."
Becker has consistently expressed his admiration for both basketball and LeBron James on social media. The tennis legend shared his excitement about the father-son duo in June, when Bronny James was drafted by the Lakers.
