Former World No. 1 Boris Becker penned a farewell message to the seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The Brit just finished his 2024 season at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is all set to end his decade-long collaboration with Mercedes.

Hamilton joined the Mercedes F1 team in 2013. At that point, the move was criticized a lot as the Brit moved away from a stronger team in McLaren. However, what followed was one of the most historic driver-manufacturer partnerships ever seen in motorsport. Hamilton won six World Championships with the "Silver Arrows" and helped them win eight consecutive Constructors World Championship titles from 2014-2021.

However, in the last couple of seasons, the on-track performance of Mercedes and Hamilton did not yield impressive results, as the Brit did not win any races in 2022 and 2023. In an almost historic turn of events, Hamilton announced that he would be joining Ferrari in 2025 at the beginning of the year.

Former World No. 1 and tennis enthusiast Boris Becker addressed a heartfelt message to Hamilton. Becker, being German, is a fan of the Mercedes F1 team and congratulated the Brit on his decade-long success with the team.

"Lewis...Many thanks to anyone who ever drove a Mercedes vehicle! You're the Boss" posted Becker on Instagram.

"I got serious about other things I was passionate about"- Lewis Hamilton got advice from Boris Becker and others regarding retirement

Earlier this year, Lewis Hamilton contemplated thoughts about retirement and life after. He sought advice from prominent athletes from other sports. Boris Becker was among the athletes Hamilton asked for advice from, other than Serena Williams and Michael Jordan. The Brit shared his learning from the conversations in a GQ interview.

I'd spoken to so many amazing athletes, from Boris Becker to Serena Williams, even Michael Jordan. Talking to greats that I’ve met along the way, who are retired—or some that are still in competition—and the fear of what’s next, the lack of preparation for what’s next....lot of them said: ‘I stopped too early.’ Or: ‘Stayed too long.’ ‘When it ended, I didn’t have anything planned.’ ‘My whole world came crashing down because my whole life has been about that sport.’ ..When I stop, how do I avoid that? And so I got serious about finding other things that I was passionate about."

Previously Boris Becker had also sent a one-word text appreciating Lewis Hamilton's gracious farewell message to fellow F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.
