Emma Navarro hilariously referenced LeBron James' iconic meme when she met the NBA star during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The American tennis star even described James as a 'pretty cool guy'.
On Friday, July 26, the opening ceremony of the Olympics saw contingents of all the nations arriving on a separate cruise on the Seine River. Over 600 athletes of Team USA were led by flag bearers LeBron James and Coco Gauff.
The all-time leading scorer in NBA history was caught up in a selfie frenzy with the athletes. He clicked pictures with several Olympic athletes, including tennis stars Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula.
Navarro posted the selfie on her Instagram Story and wrote:
"Smiling through it all! Can't believe this is my life"
The 23-year-old was referencing an iconic meme of the basketball legend. Navarro even posted the meme in her next story for reference.
Later, Sportscenter and ESPN uploaded her Instagram Stories as a post on their social media platform, with Navarro commenting on the post:
"Bronny's dad a pretty cool guy"
Bronny James Jr. is LeBron James' 19-year-old son. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers this year and is expected to take to the courts during the upcoming season with his father.
Meanwhile, LeBron and the USA basketball team will begin their Olympic campaign on Sunday, July 28, against Serbia. Matches against South Sudan and Puerto Rico will follow for James and co. in the coming week in Group C.
Emma Navarro will face Austria's Julia Grabher in Paris Olympics 2024 1R
World No. 15 Emma Navarro achieved her best Wimbledon run this year as she reached the quarterfinal stage. Eventual runner-up Jasmine Paolini got the better of the American in straight sets in the last-eight.
The 23-year-old will begin her campaign at the Paris Olympics against Austria's Julia Grabher. The Austrian is ranked 312 and has participated in multiple ITF clay court tournaments since March. The pair will face off in the first round on Saturday, July 27; it will be their first encounter against each other.
Apart from Navarro, the other US women's tennis stars beginning their campaign on Saturday include Danielle Collins, who will face Germany's Laura Siegemund. Meanwhile, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula will begin their women's doubles campaign against Australia's Daria Saville and Ellen Perez.
