Lorenzo Musetti has got a new haircut for the 2025 season. The Italian's new look is a drastic departure from his previous one. However, his new look surprised his fans, as some said that he should have stuck with his signature long, flowing hair.
On Wednesday, December 25, tennis journalist Jose Morgado took to X and shared two images of Musetti practicing. In the images, the Italian could be seen with short hair. Morgado later shared another picture of Musetti all smiles with his girlfriend Veronica Confalonieri.
Several fans criticized Lorenzo Musetti's new look and suggested that his old haircut was better. One fan even joked about the haircut, hilariously suggesting that it's a cheap version of controversial Australian Nick Kyrgios' hairdo.
"We need to start implementing laws and regulation around tennis players getting haircuts. enough is enough!" a fan wrote.
"Should’ve kept it long tbh," commented another.
"He looks so bad bye," another chimed in.
"Why’d he get a budget Kyrg*os haircut…," questioned one.
Others came up with a myriad of reactions after noticing Musetti's new haircut.
"Villain era begin," wrote one fan.
"-aura," another added.
"He's either cracking top 10 or dropping outta the top 50," weighed in yet another fan.
Last year, at the Canadian Open, the Italian had debuted a new haircut and later joked about girlfriend Confalonieri approving it.
"I had really messy hair and I didn't like it" - Lorenzo Musetti at Canadian Open 2023
Lorenzo Musetti got off to a fine start at the 2023 Canadian Open, comprehensively beating Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-1 to progress to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event. After his resounding win, the Italian sat down for a brief discussion with Tennis Channel panelists, who quizzed him about his fresh haircut at the time.
Musetti explained that his decision stemmed from the weather in Italy, which made it unbearable for him to persist with long hair. He also joked that his girlfriend Confalonieri had given the short hair her seal of approval.
"You know, it’s been quite a long time that I didn’t make the decision to cut short the hair. But Italy was so hot and I couldn’t move with the ponytail because I had really messy hair and I didn’t like it. So I finally decided with my girlfriend that she approved. The joint decision, even with my family. But I mean, I think I look a little bit younger. With the longer hair, I was a little bit older. I mean, the look," Musetti said.
Musetti enjoyed a decent 2024, even though he did not win any ATP Tour-level titles. His biggest success of the year came at the Paris Olympics, where he won the men's singles bronze medal and later celebrated the achievement with his girlfriend and the couple's son Ludovico.
