Paula Badosa recently disclosed her feelings about supporting her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, from the stands during his matches. She also shared how it compares to competing in matches herself.

Badosa was most recently in action at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard, who’s dealt with several injury-related setbacks since last year, enjoyed a promising campaign at the event, reaching the fourth round for the third time, after 2021 and 2022.

Paula Badosa also adorably celebrated her progress with her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, after reaching the final 16. The Greek player’s run was halted in the second round this time. In a recent interview with Lavanguardia, Badosa was asked whether she suffers more while competing or watching Tsitsipas’ matches. In response, she said:

"In both, to be honest," she said, laughing.

The former World No. 2, though, said that supporting her partner from the stands is more stressful, considering the helplessness she feels.

"But I would probably say that you suffer more off the court because you can't do anything to come in and help him."
"And when you're playing, in the end, you yourself have that control," she added.

Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas made their relationship public in June 2023. The tennis couple often showed their support by attending each other’s matches and celebrating their triumphs on social media. They, however, briefly separated in April this year, only to reconcile a couple of weeks later.

In the aforementioned interview, Badosa revealed how she and her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas nurture their relationship while navigating a highly competitive environment. The 2021 Indian Wells champion listed empathy and mutual respect as the elements that have helped them.

"Both realities are present: we empathize a lot with each other, but we are also two tremendously competitive people," she said, adding, "Although in the realm of couples what prevails is a healthy relationship where we have mutual respect and understand each other very well."

On the tennis front, Tsitsipas recently competed at the Swiss Open in Gstaad. The Greek was beaten in straight sets by eventual champion Matteo Berrettini in the semifinals. He will now gear up to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics (July 27- August 4) at Stade Roland-Garros, which is also the venue of the French Open. Having been a finalist at the Grand Slam event in 2021, he would fancy his chances of clinching his first medal at the Games.

Paula Badosa, meanwhile, opted out of the Paris Olympics. The Spaniard will instead compete at the WTA 500 Citi Open (July 29- August 4) to kick off her US Open series.
