"Can't promise they made it back home" - Maria Sharapova chronicles adorable snack-shopping date with son Theodore

Maria Sharapova recently shared a sneak peek of a snack shopping date with her son, Theodore. They were also accompanied by one of Sharapova's friends who recorded their shopping date.

The former World No. 1 retired in 2020 and frequently shares updates with her son on social media. She recently shared a post on her Instagram handle, detailing her snack shopping trip to a supermarket with her friend.

On Friday, December 20, Sharapova shared an Instagram reel where she was filling a shopping basket with Amara organic snacks for herself and her son. Later on, the five-time Grand Slam winner and her son munched the snacks as they took a walk outside. Sharapova captioned the post:

"My bestie and I picked up some @amarababyfood snacks for our kids. She filmed, I influenced. Can’t promise they made it back home untouched ( as demonstrated in the video 🤫). They’re in my stroller, in my travel bag and possibly Theo’s stocking 😉 "

Maria Sharapova announced her relationship with Alexander Gilkes in 2018, while the couple was in Los Angeles. In 2020, the two got engaged and welcomed their son, Theodore two years later on July 1, 2022. Gilkes is a British entrepreneur and has co-founded Squared Circles Venture.

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine in June this year, Sharapova mentioned that they didn't have any immediate plans for their wedding date as they don't intend to 'rush into' a decision anytime soon.


Maria Sharapova opened up about becoming a mother

Speaking to Tennis Channel during the 2024 Wimbledon Championships in London, Maria Sharapova opened up about her experience with parenthood. The Russian talked about applying her learnings from the sport to parenthood and said:

"It's going. There's a lot of negotiation skills that go on with parenthood which I didn't know that the negotiations that I learned through my career in business and in the sport that I would apply to parenthood. But I'm learning about that every day. You got to give something to take something," Maria Sharapova said (0:25 onwards).

The 2004 Wimbledon champion further commented that having become a mother to Theodore was 'one of the best things' that happened to her.

"It's been one of the best things that's happened to me in my life and I get to teach him and grow with him," she added.

During a career that spanned two decades, Maria Sharapova won five major titles, including two French Open titles. The Russian won a total of 36 titles and spent a total of 21 weeks ranked No.1.
