The main draw of the Canadian Open will take place on August 6, with the men's singles tournament being held in Montreal. Jannik Sinner won last year's edition of the Masters 1000 event by beating Alex de Minaur in the final.

The Italian will be the top seed this time and is a heavy favorite to win. However, the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev are also capable of challenging for the title.

What is the Canadian Open?

The Canadian Open is a hard-court event which is a part of the ATP Masters 1000 series. The inaugural edition of the tournament in the Open Era took place in 1968, with Ramanathan Krishnan winning it after beating Torben Ulrich in the final.

Ivan Lendl is the most successful player in the competition's history with six title to his name, followed by Rafael Nadal at five. Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and Bjorn Borg are some of the tennis legends who have previously won the Canadian Open.


Venue

The IGA Stadium in Montreal will host the men's tournaments at Canadian Open 2024.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner is the top seed at the Masters 1000 event and will face either a qualifier or Pedro Martinez in the first round. Second seed Alexander Zverev will also be a title contender and he will take on either Jack Draper or Jordan Thompson in the second round.

Daniil Medvedev is seeded third and his campaign in Montreal will start against either Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or Roman Safiullin. Fourth seed Hubert Hurkacz will lock horns with either a qualifier or Gael Monfils in the fourth round.

The likes of Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov are also among the higher seeded players and they are all capable of making deep runs in Montreal.


Schedule

The main draw at the Masters 1000 tournament starts on August 6, with the first round going on till the following day. The quarterfinals are set to take place on August 10 while the semifinals are scheduled for August 11. The men's singles and doubles finals will both be played on Sunday, August 12.
