Tennis insider Jose Morgado has revealed Carlos Alcaraz's plans for the upcoming Australian Open in 2025. The tournament will take place from January 12 to January 26.
Alcaraz, along with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero and his team, had an intense pre-season training session in his hometown of Murcia, Spain, before heading to Australia for the first Grand Slam of the year. Last season, the World No. 3 achieved his best result in the tournament, reaching the quarterfinals. However, he was defeated by Alexander Zverev.
On Friday, December 3, Morgado took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update on the 21-year-old's plans for the Happy Slam, announcing that he will be heading to Melbourne tomorrow.
He wrote:
“Carlos Alcaraz travels to Melbourne tomorrow.”
Alcaraz is set to participate in exhibition matches at Rod Laver Arena during the week leading up to the first Grand Slam of the year. On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, he will face Alex de Minaur and will take on Alexei Popryin two days later.
Carlos Alcaraz wants to get unique tattoo if he wins Australian Open 2025
Carlos Alcaraz planned to mark his victory at the upcoming Australian Open in a unique way—by getting a special tattoo. Known for celebrating each of his Grand Slam wins with new ink, he is ready to continue the tradition if he clinches the title.
Alcaraz celebrated his 2024 French Open victory in style by getting a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower on his left ankle. The Spaniard lifted the trophy after an intense final against Alexander Zverev.
In a recent interview with MARCA, he discussed the possibility of achieving the Career Grand Slam, saying:
"I have it in mind, I have in mind to tattoo the kangaroo. I'm going to try to make a good vacation first. For me it is super important to be able to disconnect from tennis."
He added:
“And to return fresh to the preseason so that it is brilliant, brutal, to arrive in Australia in the best possible way both tennis, physical and mental. The goal is to complete the 'Grand Slam' in Melbourne."
A victory in Australia would secure Carlos Alcaraz the prestigious Career Grand Slam, achieved by winning all four Majors at least once. He claimed his first major at the 2022 US Open, followed by back-to-back Wimbledon titles in 2023 and 2024, and added the French Open to his tally in 2024.
