Carlos Alcaraz has more charisma than Jannik Sinner, claims $12 million-worth ex-ATP pro

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are two of the best players in tennis right now. It's a claim that is hard to prove, but the 2024 season each had is pretty compelling evidence. Sinner had the most wins and won the most trophies, while Alcaraz was closely behind as the only player to have beaten Sinner at least twice this year.

The type of season Sinner had was the type of season many expected Alcaraz to have. Former player John Isner talked about it on the Nothing Major podcast, which prompted his fellow host, another former player Sam Querrey, to ask him an interesting question.

Querrey wondered whether this expectation for Alcaraz to have the type of year Sinner ultimately had stems from the fact that the Spaniard is the more charismatic of the two with more followers and more worldwide popularity.

"Do you think that's just because like worldwide, Alcaraz is more popular then Sinner, he's got more like charisma and he's got like more followers on social media, he's just like more of a showman?" - Sam Querrey on the Nothing Major Podcast (4:54)

Isner went on to explain that it wasn't so much about that but more that Alcaraz had already done what people expected him to do in the previous year.

"I think for me no. I just thought because prior to this year Carlos was the one that had the slams. Sinner didn't have the slams. He's been the pretty close... but I didn't think he was going to win two Slams this year. He's good on all surfaces. He's especially good indoors. But hard courts, best player, not even close."

Jannik Sinner's 2024 campaign will make him the nominal favorite to start off 2025 with a bang. The Australian Open is a few weeks away, and as the defending champion, the Italian will have his work cut out. If this previous season proved anything, then it's that he's up for the task.

Can Carlos Alcaraz prevent Jannik Sinner from repeating his 2024 season?

Carlos Alcaraz will have to work hard to dethrone Jannik Sinner after the Italian put together a historic season. There isn't a lack of belief that he could do it but there are also those who believe that Sinner could repeat what he did in 2024 regardless of what Alcaraz brings to the table. Isner is one of those.

"What Jannik Sinner did in 2024 is repeatable, health withstanding of course," John Isner on the Nothing Major Podcast. (5:43)

The upcoming Australian Open will in many ways be a proper test. Sinner won it last year and it proved a launching pad for the rest of his season. Maybe it will be a launching pad for Alcaraz in 2025? Time will tell.
