After Carlos Alcaraz's title win at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Andy Roddick called him a "legend". He also stated that the World No.3 had the potential to surpass tennis icons such as Boris Becker, Andre Agassi and more .

Alcaraz won his second title at the grass-court Major and his fourth Grand Slam title overall by defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) in the final. With this win, the Spaniard dashed the Serb's hopes of matching Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon men's singles titles and also his hopes of securing his 25th Grand Slam title overall

During a recent episode of the "Served with Andy Roddick" podcast, Roddick showered praise on Carlos Alcaraz. He stated that the 21-year-old is someone who is "happy," is "respectful" and is a a "steward of the game."

"We're watching something special and how lucky are we that in the vacuum of the Big 3, that not only we have this great player who is box office and [Jannik] Sinner, they kind of operate in a different way. But he's insanely fun to watch and he emotes and he's happy, and he's respectful and he's a steward of the game," Roddick said [19:33].

Roddick commended Alcaraz for his exemplary behavior on and off the court . He talked about how the Spaniard always has a positive attitude towards the media as well as his opponents, qualities that Roddick himself struggled with during his career.

The American acknowledged that his past confrontations with the media and opponents was out of the necessity for winning matches, a contrast to Carlos Alcaraz's behaviour.

"It seems like he doesn't really have bad days with the media or opponents or I don't remember him getting chippy with an opponent. I can't say that I was the worst and I had to do it because I felt like I had to do that to try to win. He doesn't need to do that stuff, he's like almost above it and it's just impressive," he added [20:00].

Reflecting on Novak Djokovic's performance against Carlos Alcaraz, Andy Roddick stated that the Spaniard pushed the Serb to his limits and in turn cause him to lose.

"But take nothing away from Novak Djokovic. Giving yourself a look at the basket, 10 Wimbledon finals, in line for your 25th Slam and you come up against someone who was just better on the day, forced your decisions, forced your movement, forced everything to be a stress test," Roddick said [20:21].

Roddick then went on to declare Carlos Alcaraz as a tennis "legend." He said that the World No.3, who already has four Grand Slams to his name, has for sure set his sights on surpassing tennis legends like Stefan Edberg, Andre Agassi, Boris Becker, Jimmy Connors and others in terms of total number of Grand Slam titles won.

"Carlos is a legend already. Now he's squarely in sight of [Stefan] Edberg, icons of our game. Six slams [Boris] Becker right there, [Jimmy] Connors, [Andre] Agassi eight. You're not going to find a lot of people betting against him, passing those massive names, we got another one," he added [20:41].
