Several fans were amused after a childhood image of Carlos Alcaraz also featuring Novak Djokovic went viral following the former's Wimbledon 2024 triumph. The 21-year-old defeated Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(7), successfully defending his title in a rematch of last year's Wimbledon final.

Carlos Alcaraz seized momentum from the start, giving Djokovic his second straight-sets defeat in a Wimbledon final. Additionally, Alcaraz made history as the youngest player to win both the French Open and Wimbledon Championships in the same calendar year, surpassing Bjorn Borg's record.

Just days after the Wimbledon final, a post has surfaced on social media that shows a young Alcaraz watching Djokovic practice on a clay court. The image amused many fans, with one suggesting that Alcaraz had been plotting since that day to eventually defeat the 24-time Major champion. They wrote:

"He BEEN plotting 😭😭😭"
"He look damn near the same age then as he does now 😂," a fan joked.
"This genre of childhood photos of athletes with their idols/future rivals is my favourite genre," another chimed in.

The image looked like a meme to a fan who wrote:

"This is like that girl with the burning house meme pic."

Here are a few more reactions from the fans:

"Unbelievable… what an incredible achievement - @carlosalcaraz," One fan commented.
"Learn everything about their tactics and upgrade it," another said.

Speaking at the press conference following the Wimbledon final, Alcaraz emphasized that he capitalized on Novak Djokovic's poor form in the first two sets, noting that the Serb made "many mistakes."

"This is a great feeling. It was a great match on my part and obviously, Novak didn't play his best on the first two sets, made many mistakes, and I took full advantage of it," Alcaraz said.

The 21-year-old further expressed that he felt great after completing the Channel Slam this year. He added that winning the Wimbledon title this year wasn't a similar feeling as last year's.

"It's a great feeling even to think that I have won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year, something few players have done before. It's amazing I try to realize that I have won Wimbledon twice and to feel that it's the same sensation as last year," he added.

Moreover, Novak Djokovic also admitted after the match that Carlos Alcaraz had outplayed him in the summit clash. While Djokovic has had a decent season in terms of matches, winning 23 out of 30, he has yet to secure a title this year.
