Tennis fans recently reacted to Novak Djokovic's former coach, Goran Ivanisevic, placing Jannik Sinner ahead of Carlos Alcaraz in their rivalry. Alcaraz and Sinner have competed against each other 10 times on the ATP tour, with the former emerging victorious in six of those encounters.

Both Alcaraz and Sinner have had a remarkable season this year. The Spaniard claimed four titles, including the Indian Wells Masters, French Open, Wimbledon Championships, and the China Open. Meanwhile, the Italian won seven titles - the Australian Open, ABN AMRO Open, Miami Open, Halle Open, Cincinnati Open, US Open, and the Shanghai Masters.

In 2024, Alcaraz and Sinner met three times, with Alcaraz emerging victorious in all three matches.

In a recent conversation with Tennis Majors, Novak Djokovic's former coach Goran Ivanisevic said that he believes that when both Alcaraz and Sinner are at their best, the World No. 1 is the superior player between the two. The Croat also mentioned that both Alcaraz and Sinner are exceptional players and are currently ahead of anyone else on the tour.

"They’re different players, but when they are both at their best, I feel that Sinner is better. He is more consistent throughout the match, whether Alcaraz can go from hitting amazing shots to some easy errors. This year, Carlos had a few losses I couldn’t explain… If we move Novak out of the equation, they will dominate, they are way above anyone else on the Tour," Ivanisevic said.

Tennis fans were surprised by Ivanisevic's comments regarding Jannik Sinner being the superior player in his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz and reacted to his quotes on social media. One fan jokingly suggested that Ivanisevic made the remark because he was not over how the Spaniard had defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The fan wrote:

"Carlos really hurt Goran at Wimbledon 😂"

Many fans disagreed with Ivanisevic's opinion that Sinner is a better player than Alcaraz, deeming it "backwards."

"He has it backwards. Sinner is better built to retain the world number one ranking but Alcaraz cannot be stopped once he is in full flight at the Slams. Especially the Channel Slams," a fan wrote.
"Whatever Goran is smoking, I want some," a fan posted.
"Dear Goran, Please, check with reality. Thank you," a fan wrote.

Some fans argued that Jannik Sinner cannot be considered a better player than Carlos Alcaraz because he excels only on hardcourts while the Spaniard dominates on all three surfaces.

"Goran was a one surface player, so it's understandable that he thinks that a guy who dominates one surface is better than a guy who can dominate all surfaces.." a fan posted.
"Hardcourt merchant but he is better than someone with slams on three diff surfaces??" a fan wrote.
"Sure, Goran. Sure. 😉 ," a fan posted.
