Carlos Alcaraz, whose dating life has not seen a lot of publicity, opened up about his plans for engagement after the offseason witnessed several tennis players get engaged. The Spaniard playfully expressed hope for 2025 to bring a change before revealing his relationship status.

Alcaraz played an exhibition match against Alex de Minaur at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, January 8. Although the 21-year-old Spaniard was defeated by the Aussie, the lighthearted spirit of the event remained evident as the pair shared playful moments during their post-match interview.

De Minaur was one of the many tennis stars who got engaged during the offseason. He exchanged rings with fellow tennis player Katie Boulter. In the post-match interview, Andrea Petkovic said:

"Carlos… you’re not engaged… still on the market."

Soon, the crowd erupted with cheers and De Minaur joined them before Alcaraz responded:

"Who knows this year [Laughing]... No, no, no, engagement so far. Single, so far. I laughed with some close people that during the break, 3 or 4 players got engaged. I thought it was my turn, but not yet."

Including De Minaur and Boulter, not less than six tennis players got engaged over the offseason. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Alexei Popyrin, and Marton Fucsovics exchanged rings with their partners.

Soon after Carlos Alcaraz revealed his engagement plans, Andrea Petkovic told him it was a good time to congratulate Alex de Minaur for his engagement with Katie Boulter. Alcaraz responded:

"I mean, I already told him congratulations. I don’t know if you’re sure about it! [Laughing]" the Spaniard joked.

The crowd at the Rod Laver Arena erupted with laughter along with De Minaur. However, Alcaraz quickly added:

"But no, I’ve seen them in the tournaments. I mean, I don’t know Katie very much but it seems that she’s a very nice person so I think you’re going to enjoy this marriage, hopefully everything is going to be good. And yeah, congratulations! As you said, I’m too young to talk."

The four-time Grand Slam champion will be aiming to win the Australian Open in the coming weeks and complete the Career Grand Slam. He has not played any preparatory tournaments ahead of the Melbourne Slam but looked in good shape in his 7-5 4-6 [10-5] loss to De Minaur in the exhibition match.
