Carlos Alcaraz continued his 2025 Australian Open with another victory, though this one came after the retirement of his opponent. He faced Jack Draper in the fourth round on Sunday (January 19), and after the Spaniard took the first two sets 7-5, 6-1, the Brit retired due to an injury.

After the match, Alcaraz was asked about his younger brother Jaime during the post-match press conference. Born in 2011, Jaime, much like his older brother, ended up pursuing tennis.

While he's still very young, Jaime is considered a great talent, possibly even better than Alcaraz, according to some reports. He's recently been following the career path of Alcaraz by playing the same circuit as the older sibling did as a kid and has been doing quite well.

The teenager triumphed in his first qualifying match at the Les Petits As on Saturday. He is now just a solitary win away from securing a main-draw beth at such a prestigious tournament on the Junior European Tour.

Alcaraz spoke about that in the press conference.

"Yeah, I saw the results. I remember that tournament, that period of my life. I made a lot of friends on that circuit, let's say. I'm just happy to see my little brother playing those tournaments, the same as I played when I was his age," he said (6:40).

There is no shortage of support from the older Alcaraz to the younger one, even though they're half a world apart these days. The older Alcaraz always makes sure to support his younger brother no matter wherever he is.

"I saw the results. I couldn't talk to him yet. I spoke with my mom because he's with my mom there. He played great, so hopefully, he keeps going. I'm just supporting him. Every time. It doesn't matter that I'm in another part of the world," he said (7:09).

Having been in his shoes also allows Alcaraz to try his best to support him in the best way he can and one of those ways is trying to lessen the pressure for him.

"I try to be supportive of him, trying to pull out all the pressure that people might put on him. I'm just happy to see him growing and becoming, let's say, a grown man," Alcaraz added (7:40).

Carlos Alcaraz to face Novak Djokovic in quarter-final

To keep going at the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz will have to face Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal, which should be a really interesting matchup. It hasn't been the easiest for him in recent times, as he lost three of the last four matches he played against Djokovic.

This will be one of the more meaningful ones because it will directly impact the legacy of both. Alcaraz has never won the Australian Open, and if he does, he will complete the highly coveted Career Grand Slam — winning all four Grand Slam titles. Djokovic is trying to win a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam trophy, which no player, male or female, has ever done. He's currently tied with Margaret Court at 24.
