Through his stellar performances in 2022, Carlos Alcaraz took the tennis world by storm. His incredible achievements have already started to attract numerous honors for one of the most promising youngsters on the tour, the latest being a wall painting at his primary school in his hometown of El Palmar, Spain.

Turning pro in 2018, the 19-year-old won his first singles title at the ATP 250 Croatia Open in 2021 and ended the year as the World No. 32. However, it was the 2022 season when he broke records and reached new heights.

His five titles last year included two ATP 500 trophies, two Masters titles, and the prestigious US Open. He became the youngest man to become the World No. 1 in the history of the ATP rankings, as well as the youngest since Rafael Nadal to win a Grand Slam.

As he focuses on the Sunshine Double, Alcaraz's primary school — Ciudad de La Paz — has decided to pay tribute to the current World No. 2 on one of its walls by creating a giant mural of the player from when he was a child.

After Alcaraz won the Madrid Masters and reached the quarterfinals of the French Open last year, another 400 square-meter mural was painted on Calle Mota Regueron at the entrance of El Palmar. The player was present at the inauguration, along with Mayor Jose Antonio Serrano, who showered praise on the youngster.

"You are going to give us a lot of joy and all of Murcia will be with you encouraging you and pushing you towards success," Serrano said. "As Mayor of Murcia, I cannot help but congratulate you for bearing the name of our municipality and your district, El Palmar, around the world. You have become an unbeatable ambassador," the Mayor said of Alcaraz.

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz and 11th seed Jannik Sinner are all set to clash in the semifinals of the 2023 BNP Paribas Open tonight. It will be the fifth chapter in the two players' rivalry, with the head-to-head standing at 2-2 right now. While the 21-year-old Italian defeated the Spaniard at the 2022 Wimbledon, Alcaraz avenged his loss at Flushing Meadows on his way to winning the US Open.

The World No. 2 recently took to social media to express his excitement about the upcoming match against Sinner, with whom he shares a great bond off the court.

"Can't wait to play Jannik tomorrow! No matter who won, I think our previous matches have been great fun for the fans, and also for us," Carlos Alcaraz tweeted.

This will be Alcaraz's second straight semifinal at Indian Wells. He lost to Rafael Nadal in three sets last year.
