No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev will face each other in the final of the 2024 French Open. The match is scheduled for Sunday, June 9.
Alcaraz secured his place in the Roland-Garros final with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Jannik Sinner. Both players initially struggled to find their best form, but the Spaniard ultimately triumphed. He is now just one match away from winning his third Grand Slam title.
Before facing Sinner, Alcaraz defeated the likes of J.J. Wolf, Jesper De Jong, Sebastian Korda, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Meanwhile, Zverev, aiming for his first Major, secured his place in the championship match with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory over two-time finalist Casper Ruud. Although the German struggled in the first set, he overcame the Norwegian, who was dealing with a stomachache, in the last three sets with little difficulty.
On his way to facing Ruud, Zverev overcame challenges from 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal, David Goffin, Tallon Griekspoor, Holger Rune and Alex de Minaur.
This will be the 10th meeting between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, with the latter leading their head-to-head 5-4. Their most recent encounter was in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Indian Wells Masters, where the World No. 3 won 6-3, 6-1.
