Caroline Wozniacki recorded the second quarterfinal appearance of her 2024 season at this week's Bad Homburg Open. As a result, the Dane will make a foray into the women's top 100 rankings for the first time since her retirement in 2020.

Wozniacki initially retired from tennis after reaching the third round of the 2020 Australian Open to focus on her family. The former World No. 1 was out of sight for more than three years before making her comeback at the Canadian Open last August.

Although Caroline Wozniacki was ranked well outside the WTA top 500, she gave a good account of herself at the 2023 US Open a few weeks later. The 33-year-old reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows against all odds, going out to eventual champion Coco Gauff in three sets.

The 2018 Australian Open winner wouldn't play again on the pro tour until 2024, which saw her put in dismal results in her first three tournaments. However, she made plenty of amends at the WTA 1000 event at Indian Wells in March, making it to the last eight (where she lost to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek).

Wozniacki had a few quiet months following her quarterfinal run in Indian Wells. The former World No. 1 did make a big rankings surge during this time, though, which culminated in a top-100 return at the 2024 Bad Homburg Open.

The 33-year-old has been on a giant-killing run at the grasscourt tournament, beating second-seeded Elina Svitolina and World No. 36 Veronika Kudermetova en route to the last eight. She will next face third seed Emma Navarro for a place in the semifinals of the WTA 500 event.

Caroline Wozniacki will be eager to go deeper at the 2024 Bad Homburg Open, considering it is in the lead-up to Wimbledon. The former World No. 1 has been granted a wildcard for this year's grasscourt Major.

Wozniacki has competed at SW19 on 13 occasions so far throughout her illustrious career, with 25 wins out of 38 matches. Her best performance has been reaching the fourth round in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2017.

The Dane's last appearance at Wimbledon came in 2019, when she was the 13th seed. She lost 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 to Veronika Kudermetova in the first round.
