Jessica Pegula is back in business. Just a week after falling short in the Miami Open final, the American bounced back in style to claim the 2025 Charleston Open title, defeating compatriot Sofia Kenin 6-3, 7-5 in the final. This marks her second title of the season, having also lifted the trophy at the ATX Open in March.
Pegula’s victory in Charleston also came with a handsome reward — she pocketed $164,000 from the tournament’s total prize pool of $1,064,510. Runner-up Kenin earned $101,000 for her efforts, while semifinalists Emma Navarro and Amanda Anisimova each took home $51,085.
Defending champion Danielle Collins, third seed Zheng Qinwen, fourth seed Emma Navarro, and 14th seed Anna Kalinskaya, each took home $25,550 for their quarterfinal finish at the WTA 500 tournament.
Meanwhile, those who were eliminated in the third round – reigning Australian Open champion and second seed Madison Keys, fifth seed Daria Kasatkina, sixth seed Diana Shnaider, 10th seed Yulia Putintseva, 11th seed Jelena Ostapenko, 13th seed Elise Mertens, 15th seed Ashlyn Krueger and Ajla Tomljanovic – each earned $12,900.
The second round saw a flurry of exits, including 16th seed Peyton Stearns, 17th seed Belinda Bencic, Caroline Dolehide, Caty McNally, Lauren Davis, Hailey Baptiste, Katie Volynets, Zhang Shuai, Veronika Kudermetova, Polina Kudermetova, Ann Li, Varvara Gracheva, Maria Sakkari, Robin Montgomery, Louisa Chirico, and Iryna Shyamanovich. Each of them bagged $7,975.
Players who went home in the opening round of the 2025 Charleston Open, including Bernarda Pera, Anna Blinkova, Olivia Gadecki, Lucia Bronzetti, Harriet Dart, Erika Andreeva and others, each pocketed $6,400.
