Chris Evert praised CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins for her intelligence, calling her "smart." In response, Collins returned the compliment, but Evert humbly downplayed the comparison, saying she doesn't "even come close" to Collins' intellect.

Kaitlan Collins is an American journalist currently serving as a news anchor at CNN. Since July 2023, she has been hosting The Source. Previously, she co-anchored CNN This Morning and was the network's Chief White House Correspondent.

Evert took to X to praise Collins' work, stating:

"Watching @kaitlancollins on @CNN Listening to how smart she is... You go, girl.."

Collins noted the praise she received from the American tennis legend and returned the favor:

"Takes one to know one!"

Evert humbly responded:

"I don't even come close!!!😂"

Collins has earned recognition for her journalistic prowess, winning an Emmy Award and recently being named in the TIME100 Next 2024 list. She currently anchors "The Source" on CNN, contributing significantly to the network's news coverage.

Similarly, Chris Evert has built a second career in tennis media after her illustrious playing days, becoming a commentator. However, she has recently faced controversy over some of her statements.

Chris Evert, a legendary figure in tennis and more recently a commentator, came under fire during the 2024 US Open for some of her remarks during match coverage.

Naomi Osaka turned heads in her bow-adorned kit at the New York Major this year but Evert's comments regarding it were not well received.

"I like the dress… it suits her, it suits the Japanese culture," said Evert.

Fans lashed out at the American with one even calling her a "racist hater."

Evert also came under fire for comparing Karolina Muchova's gameplay to that of male players.

"She plays like a guy. She wants to play like a guy. The guys have bigger serves than the women, they have better volleys for the most part, they move a little bit better," Evert said.

The 69-year-old's comments regarding Muchova were criticized by Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian asked to "stop stereotyping based on gender."

Evert eventually apologized for any offense caused by her comments, clarifying that it was never her intention. She acknowledged that the "power, mobility, and athleticism" in women’s tennis have evolved significantly. She admitted that her "delivery could've been better."
