Tennis legend Chris Evert has rung in the New Year by bonding with her infant grandson Hayden. The 18-time Grand Slam champion became a grandmother on May 24, 2024, when her son Nicholas and daughter-in-law Rebecca welcomed Hayden.
The 70-year-old on January 2 (Friday) posted an adorable clip of the toddler as he was consuming his food. The backdrop of the clip featured a Christmas tree, presents, and trinkets, reflecting the festive spirit of the holiday season.
Nicholas, Hayden’s father, was born to Evert and her former husband Andy Mill in 1994. The tennis champion announced her grandson's birth with the words:
"My son Nicky and his wife Rebecca welcomed their first child, Hayden James into this world last night. Thanks for bringing more love into our family; so proud of you two."
At present, Nicholas and his father, a former downhill skier, run the “Mill House” podcast. The father-son collaboration was hailed by popular comedian-cum-podcaster Joe Rogan on his show.
Chris Evert has showcased several moments from her life featuring the adorable toddler. In August, the Evert clan got together as the toddler was taken to an eatery for a recreational session. Her caption on Instagram read:
"We took Hayden out on the town.... mom, dad, grandma and grandpa !!!"
The Hall of Famer has defeated ovarian cancer twice in recent years. After beating cancer for the second time in 2024, she said [via New York Times]:
“I’m in love with this baby boy already, it makes me want to live even more.”
The former World No. 1 stays connected to the sport through the Evert Tennis Academy and numerous assignments as a tennis pundit.

Tennis legend Chris Evert on Christmas Day, 2024, hailed the trainees at her coaching institute for turning up for a practice session despite ongoing festivities. Founded by Evert and her brother John, the Evert Tennis Academy is approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. On December 24, she posted a picture of the girls having turned up for training, captioned:
"Proud of Evert Tennis Academy girls for showing up for Christmas Eve practice."
A few days earlier, on December 21, the legend celebrated her 70th birthday. Many icons of the sport, including Billie Jean King and Evert's closest rival Martina Navratilova, conveyed their greetings to the seven-time French Open winner.
