One of the biggest events of the year, the Super Bowl, got the likes of Coco Gauff, Caroline Wozniacki, and Eugenie Bouchard, among others in the tennis world, highly excited. While the game itself was already a thrilling prospect, with Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Philadelphia Eagles, there was great anticipation for superstar Rihanna's long-awaited live performance during the half-time show on Sunday.
There was representation from the tennis world as well during the Super Bowl spectacle, and a great one at that, with 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams appearing in a couple of commercials.
As the 2023 edition of the Super Bowl got underway, many from the tennis world reacted to some big moments. Among them, Coco Gauff and Caroline Wozniacki were most excited about Rihanna's performance.
"Go Rihanna! What a way to come back," Wozniacki wrote on her Instagram stories.
Wozniacki also shared an adorable clip of her 2-year-old daughter Olivia dancing, joking that the little one had her own way of preparing for the Super Bowl game.
Eugenie Bouchard was also glued to her TV set, ready for the battle between the Chiefs and the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs fan Alison Riske-Amritraj was quite nervous ahead of the big game.
"I put @acuseeds in to combat anxiety bc my husband is going to lose his mind tonight and I need all the help I can get," Riske-Amritraj wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Rihanna had another fan in leading tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg, while tennis legend Billie Jean King was in awe of Mexican football star Diana Flores, who appeared in a commercial.
Coco Gauff was a bundle of excitement ahead of Rihanna's on-stage comeback during Super Bowl 2023
Coco Gauff was quite engrossed in Rihanna's comeback, as the legendary singer's Super Bowl half-time show was her first on-stage performance in seven years. Ahead of the Super Bowl, Gauff posted a video where she made her prediction about the song Rihanna would open with, while also narrating how the show was going to go along.
"It’s gonna be pitch black, silent. And we gonna get is "Don’t act like you forgot"… Because we haven’t seen Rihanna perform in I don’t know how long? And then she would go like "Don’t act like you forgot".. and boom and then 'Please don’t stop the music.' I’m telling you all that’s what going to happen," Coco Gauff said in a video posted on her social media.
