Coco Gauff celebrated Chloe Kim's historic fifth Laax Open title via a social media post shared on Monday. This victory was Kim's first since her landmark performance at the 2023 Winter X Games, where she became the first woman to land a 1260 in the halfpipe competition.
Kim delivered an impressive first run, scoring 96.50 with a cab double cork 1080, securing her fifth title on Saturday, January 18, in Switzerland.
“I really wanted to show you guys my cab double, and I’m so happy I was able to put it down. It’s rewarding to just ride for fun," Kim said post match (via The Guardian).
Fellow American Maddie Mastro scored an impressive 94.50, earning her second-place finish. Akin to Kim, Mastro also landed a frontside double cork 1080.
World No. 3 Coco Gauff, who is currently competing at the 2025 Australian Open, expressed her excitement over Chloe Kim's achievement, sharing a post from "Togethxr" on her Instagram story on January 20.
The post featured a picture of the snowboarder atop the podium with her trophy, flanked by the second and third-place finishers. The image featured a brief note that read:

Meanwhile, Gauff remains fully focused on capturing her second Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open. The 20-year-old has been progressing steadily and is now through to the quarterfinals.
Coco Gauff will face Paula Badosa in the 2025 Australian Open Quarterfinals
World No. 3 Coco Gauff will compete against 11th seed Paula Badosa in one of the most anticipated quarterfinal matchups of the 2025 Australian Open on Tuesday, January 21. The 20-year-old has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, securing victories over compatriot Sofia Kenin in the first round, Jodie Burrage in the second, Leylah Fernandez in the third, and Belinda Bencic in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Badosa began her campaign with a victory over Wang Xinyu, followed by a second-round win against Talia Gibson. She then defeated Marta Kostyuk in the third round before overcoming Olga Danilovic to reach her second consecutive Major quarterfinal.
Both competitors have an even tally in the head-to-head at 3-3. Their last encounter took place at the 2024 China Open, which Gauff won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 despite losing the first set to the Spaniard.
The winner of this match will face either top seed Aryna Sabalenka or 27th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semifinals.
