Coco Gauff celebrates leading Team USA to United Cup 2025 final against Iga Swiatek's Poland

Coco Gauff celebrated Team USA reaching the final of the 2025 United Cup. The American team will go up against Iga Swiatek's Poland in the title clash.

In the semifinal tie between USA and Czech republic, Gauff defeated Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-4 before Taylor Fritz won his match over Tomas Machac after the latter was forced to retire during the end of the second set.

The mixed doubles rubber saw Desirae Krawczyk and Denis Kudla defeating Gabriela Knutson and Patrik Rikl with a score of 7-5, 6-0 to lead Team USA to a 3-0 victory and securing their spot in the final against Poland.

The World No.3 will face off against Iga Swiatek in the women's singles tie during the final. They have faced each other 13 times on the WTA Tour ,with the former World No.1 winning 11 of those matches. Their most recent encounter was at the 2024 WTA Finals, where Gauff emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

After American team's semifinal win, Coco Gauff took to social media to celebrate the news of Team USA's advancement to the final of the 2025 United Cup.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek's Poland secured their spot in the final by defeating Kazakhstan in the semifinals. Hubert Hurkacz opened the tie by defeating Alexander Shevchenko 6-3, 6-2 in the men's singles match.

Then Swiatek triumphed over Elena Rybakina 7-6(5), 6-4. In the mixed doubles, Maja Chwalinska and Jan Zielinski defeated Zhibek Kulambayeva and Alexander Shevchenko 6-4, 6-1 to win the tie 3-0.

During a press conference leading up to the final between the USA and Poland at the 2025 United Cup, Team USA captain Michael Russell commended the playing forms of Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Hubert Hurkacz and Taylor Fritz.

“Poland's got a great team. What we talked about in 2022, we played them, but we have such good energy. Coco and Taylor are playing great and they fight. Hubi serves cannons. Iga moves great, but so does Coco and she's playing well. Taylor's playing great," Russell said .

Russell expressed that the final between USA and Poland will be "fun" and that he is expecting a good fight from Gauff and Fritz like they have done throughout the tournament.

“I think keys to the match are coming out and fighting like Coco and Taylor did so well today. It's going to come down to maybe a few points, but we have a great bench behind us, too, so it will be fun," he added .

Poland and USA will both play in their second United Cup final, with the Americans winning the tournament in 2023. The Poles reached the final of last year's edition of the team event but narrowly lost to Germany.
