Coco Gauff receives valuable advice from a veteran coach ahead of the 2025 season
Coco Gauff started the 2024 season on a high note, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open. The 20-year-old also enjoyed a strong run at the BNP Paribas Open, Internazionali BNL d'Italia, French Open, and Ecotrans Ladies Open, where she advanced to the semifinals.
Gauff’s standout achievements of the season included claiming the title at the China Open in Beijing, where she secured a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over Karolina Muchová. Earlier in January, she also triumphed at the ASB Classic. Additionally, the 20-year-old celebrated a doubles victory at the French Open, teaming up with Katerina Siniaková.
She capped off the season by winning the WTA Finals in Riyadh after getting the better of Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals and ultimately defeating China's Zheng Qinwen in the final.
Despite coming close, notably at the Australian Open and the French Open, Gauff was unable to secure a Major title in 2024. However, her current offseason training regimen could prove instrumental in helping her achieve that goal in 2025, according to Serena Williams' former coach, Rick Macci.
"MINOR adjustments in the off season can shine bright in MAJOR events. @CocoGauff," Macci tweeted.
Currently ranked No. 3 in the WTA rankings, Gauff maintained an impressive 54-17 win-loss record in 2024.
