Coco Gauff has undergone a stylish makeover, debuting a new hairstyle as she gears up to kick off her 2025 season. The American will be in action at the United Cup in the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Gauff landed in Perth for the high-profile team event, reuniting with Taylor Fritz and Danielle Collins as Team USA gears up to take on Canada in their opening tie on December 29. Amid her preparations for the much-awaited contest, the World No. 3 also unveiled a fresh look.
In collaboration with her sponsor Carol's Daughter, Coco Gauff embraced a chic hair makeover featuring dreadlocks that cascaded into loose auburn waves, which were then styled into a sleek bun.
Gauff began working with Carol's Daughter earlier this year, disclosing that the partnership felt "authentic" to her because of the company's founder, Lisa Price, a Black woman who placed a strong emphasis on family. In an interview with Popsugar, the World No. 3 opened up about her journey of embracing her natural hair as she grew older.
"I was using Carol's Daughter's products for years before this opportunity came to me. As I've matured, I've started learning to embrace my hair more, and working with this brand felt like perfect alignment," Coco Gauff said.
"It was founded by a Black woman with an emphasis on family, and given how close I am to mine, this partnership just felt authentic to me."
Coco Gauff also expressed pride in using her platform to showcase the beauty of Black hairstyles, as evidenced by her latest look, calling it an important form of "self-expression" not often seen in the tennis world.
"When I play, I like to wear protective hairstyles because I need low-manipulation looks. When I was young, I committed myself to showcasing Black hairstyles when I play, and that's something that I take pride in," she added.
"Whether it's box braids, twists, or my natural hair, it's a form of self-expression that I'm really proud of, especially because you still don't see it very often in our sport."
Coco Gauff lets her hair down during fun Rottnest Island visit with Taylor Fritz ahead of United Cup
Coco Gauff opted for a more relaxed hairstyle while exploring Rottnest Island with Taylor Fritz ahead of their campaign at the 2025 United Cup. The duo enjoyed time on the beach, snapped memorable pictures with quokkas, and Gauff even overcame her fear to take a scenic helicopter ride.
In her pre-tournament press conference, the 20-year-old enthusiastically gushed over her fun experiences in Perth, including an enjoyable visit to the local fair, with a team escape room adventure planned for later.
"We went to Rottnest Island, and we got some pictures with the quokkas. I went on the fun fair by the hotel and went on some rides. We're all doing a team escape room later. So, yeah, we're having a lot of fun," Gauff said.
Coco Gauff takes on Leylah Fernandez to kick off Team USA's blockbuster showdown with Canada at the United Cup. Subsequently, Taylor Fritz will face Felix Auger-Aliassime, followed by a mixed doubles clash.
