Coco Gauff reacted this week to a video of her delivering a speech in the TV series "All American: Homecoming TV." The American tennis ace made a short appearance in the series as a supporter of the Bringston University women's tennis team.
After a successful 2024 season, Gauff has been at the training court, ahead of the start of next season. She concluded her season with her WTA Finals win against defending champion Iga Swiatek in Riyadh and has since busied herself in off-court activities, featuring in promotional campaigns of Bose, Naked Juice, and others.
In 2023, Gauff made a guest appearance in the US TV series, All American: Homecoming. She appeared on the 14th episode of Season 2 playing herself, supporting the Bringston University women's tennis team. Earlier this week, Coco Gauff took to Instagram to share a clip from the show. In the video, she addressed the team on how important it was to "raise their voices against injustice."
Gauff called the appearance a "side quest" in her caption while also expressing gratitude to her co-actors. She wrote:
"me doing random side quests. shoutout to all the actors out there I was so nervous for this lol. I forgot I did this, lol".
In the video, she said:
"As a professional tennis player, I want to lift up the next generation. This is how we do it. This is where it starts. Call, email, or text the Sheriff's Department and Georgia Athletic Conference. If we all raise our voices, we can get justice for Bringston."
The 20-year-old won her first WTA 1000 title at the 2023 Cincinnati Open.
Coco Gauff once rated her acting in "All American: Homecoming" a two out of ten
After her first-round win at the 2023 Miami Open, Gauff gave her appearance on TV a low rating. She also described her family's reaction to her brief appearance on "All-American: Homecoming." In the post-match press conference, Gauff said:
"I don't know if I would do it again for the acting part. Watching myself on TV was probably the most excruciating pain I ever had to experience. I hated it!"
While her parents liked her cameo on the silver screen, her brother rated her acting a three out of ten, and she had a similar low rating. Gauff said,
"My brother, he said it was a 3 out of 10. I rated it a 2 out of the 10[sic]."
Gauff, a former World No. 1, soared to a doubles victory at the 2024 French Open alongside her partner Katerina Siniakova. Though she missed out on defending her US Open title in 2024, Gauff made history as the youngest China Open champion in 14 years, as she lifted her eighth career singles and second WTA 1000 title.
