Coco Gauff expressed that she felt a twinge of envy when she saw Elena Rybakina's "better" quokka selfie. Both Gauff and Rybakina are currently in Australia, competing at the 2025 United Cup.

The United States, Canada, and Croatia are all part of Group A whose matches are taking place at the RAC Arena in Perth. In the opening match of the USA-Canada tie, Gauff defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-3, 6-2 to give her team a 1-0 lead. The men's singles round was won by Felix Auger-Aliassime, who defeated Taylor Fritz 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, tying the score at 1-1.

The deciding mixed doubles rubber saw Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz triumph over Fernandez and Auger-Aliassime with a score of 7-6(2), 7-5 and win the tie against Canada 2-1.

After the win over Canada, during the post match on-court interview Coco Gauff talked about how she had enjoyed exploring Perth, visiting Rottnest Island and also clicking selfies with quokkas before the United Cup began.

The former World No. 2 also admitted that Elena Rybakina's quokka selfie was better than hers and that she will take notes so that she can click a better one next time.

“We already went to Rottnest Island, saw the fireworks. We did the fun fair. So I feel like we did enough we could do considering we're playing. But I'm having a great time in Perth and I appreciate you guys for staying late to support us. I did get a quokka selfie but Elena Rybakina had the better selfie. Like mine was kind of bad but I'll take notes for next time," Gauff said [at 1:59].
