Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Ons Jabeur, and other members of the tennis community have shown their support for former US Open doubles champion Gabriela Dabrowski following her surprising revelation about her health. The Canadian disclosed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
Dabrowski took to social media and detailed her journey of receiving the devastating diagnosis in April, getting treatments while still competing on tour, and ending the season on a hopeful note with her doubles triumph at the WTA Finals. The 32-year-old took pride in being a survivor, sharing that she had developed a "better grasp of her treatment, side effects, and how to manage them."
"Early on in my diagnosis I was afraid of cancer becoming a part of my identity forever. I don't feel that way anymore. It is a privilege to be able to call myself a survivor," Dabrowski posted on Instagram.
The Canadian also extended heartfelt gratitude to her family, friends, coaching team, and doubles partner Erin Routliffe for their unwavering support during the ordeal, disclosing that her health scare had allowed her to appreciate all the blessings in her life.
"When the threat of losing everything l'd worked for my entire life became a real possibility, only then did I begin to authentically appreciate what I had. Loving parents and friends, amazing coaches, a doubles partner who stuck by me, a real team, access to health care experts, and to play a game for a living," she wrote.
Gabriela Dabrowski received an outpouring of love and support from her fellow tennis players after her announcement, with Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Ons Jabeur lauding the Canadian for her exceptional strength.

Dabrowski's doubles partner Erin Routliffe sent a touching message to the 32-year-old, while Ellen Perez hailed Dabrowski for "inspiring and educating" others with her stories post.

Coco Gauff has made a strong start to her 2025 season at the United Cup, winning both her singles encounters in Team USA's ties against Canada and Croatia to lead the team to the quarterfinals of the prestigious event.
Jessica Pegula was scheduled to commence her season at the Brisbane International. However, the World No. 7 suffered a setback, withdrawing from the WTA 500 event with a knee injury in the lead-up to the Australian Open, which begins on January 12.
Gabriela Dabrowski is also yet to kick off her new season. The Canadian is expected to be in action at the Melbourne Slam with her doubles partner Erin Routliffe. The two will aim to improve upon their performance after reaching the semifinals at the major last year.
