Coco Gauff turned cheerleader for her brother Codey Gauff as the latter was invited to join an elite group of high-school baseball athletes for the DREAM series.
The development experience event for young talents was hosted by MLB (Major League Baseball) and USA Baseball and took place from January 17- 20 in Tempe Diablo Minor League Complex, Arizona.
Codey Gauff took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 22 to share pictures from his time at the event and captioned it:
"CHASING THE DREAM".
Coco Gauff reacted enthusiastically to her brother's sporting success and wrote:
"Lets gooo."
Other pictures in Codey Gauff's carousel included pictures with other participants and with Cincinnati Reds' Hunter Greene.
Gauff has been a big supporter of her brother and the latter's dream of joining the NFL someday. She expressed pride in her brother for his commitment to the Missouri Tigers, the official baseball team of the University of Missouri.
Gauff has had a strong start to her 2025 season as part of the winning team USA at the United Cup. She recently made a quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open.
A brief look at Coco Gauff's Australian Open run
Coco Gauff entered the 2025 Australian Open with a 2024 WTA Finals win and a victory over World No. 2 Iga Swiatek as part of the winning team USA at the United Cup.
She enjoyed straight-set victories over Sofia Kenin and Jodie Burrage in the first and second rounds of the Grand Slam event respectively. She later edged out Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-2 in the third round. She dropped a set against Belinda Bencic in the fourth round, eventually coming from behind and closing the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in her favor.
In her match against Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals, the American struggled to find her footing. Badosa won 7-5, 6-4, ending Gauff's run at the 2025 Australian Open.
In a post-match press conference, Gauff reflected on her game and where she might have faltered.
“The timing was a little bit off,” Gauff said [at 0:42]. “I was hitting some balls too far in front almost, maybe playing a bit too far back."
However, the World No. 3 believed that playing offense suited her game and she would continue to work towards a more aggressive playing style.
"I have to be aggressive, that's when I'm playing my best. That's how I won most of the matches in the last few months, playing aggressive.I’m making a shift in my game. I haven't always played that aggressive. It's about being more comfortable with that. I do have faith that it will be more of an instinct instead of a second guess,” she added [at 1:27].
Paula Badosa will next face Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open on Wednesday, January 22.
Gauff is likely to be seen at the 2025 Linz Open in Austria next.
