Coco Gauff's collaboration with the popular clothing line American Eagle features a denim jacket with the American's popular line from her 2023 US Open winner's speech on the back. The 20-year-old clinched her maiden Grand Slam at her home Major when she defeated Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
During her winner's speech, Gauff thanked the people who didn't believe in her and said how some of them believed that a WTA 500 or a WTA 1000 win was the extent of what she was going to achieve. She was happy to have won the US Open and proved them wrong.
“Honestly, thank you to the people who didn't believe me. I mean, like a month ago I won a 500 title and people said I would stop at that. Two weeks ago I won a 1000 title and people were saying that was the biggest it was gonna get. So three weeks later I'm here with this trophy right now,” she said.
She added how the people who didn't believe in her added gas to her fire, making her burn brighter than ever.
“I tried my best to carry this with grace and I've been doing my best. So honestly to those who thought were putting water in my fire, you're really added gas to it. And now I'm really burning so bright right now,” she added.
Her speech received a huge positive reception from the tennis fraternity, who loved Gauff calling out her haters after winning her home Major.
Coco Gauff has collaborated with the clothing line American Eagle for a new line that will have jeans, skirts, jean corsets, and much more. Their partnership will feature a denim jacket that will be emblazoned with the 20-year-old's iconic line 'Thank you to the people who didn't believe in me' on the back.
Coco Gauff is struggling with form ahead of her 2024 US Open title defense
At last year's North American hardcourt swing, Coco Guaff was in red-hot form, winning the Mubadala Citi DC Open and the Cincinnati Open before going on to clinch the US Open. During the swing, she scored wins over Iga Swiatek, Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka, and Marketa Vondrousova.
However, Gauff will head into her US Open title defense under very different circumstances compared to last year. She was ousted from the Canadian Open in the third round by Diana Shnaider and failed at her Cincinnati defense after being stunned by Yulia Putintseva.
Coco Gauff has also slipped in the rankings, going from World No. 2 to World No. 3 behind Sabalenka, who clinched the Cincinnati Open title.
