Coco Gauff, along with compatriots Ben Shelton and Sebastian Korda, congratulated Christopher Eubanks on entering the top 100 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career.
Eubanks is having a pretty good run at the 2023 Miami Open after having to qualify for the main draw. The 26-year-old beat compatriot Dennis Kudla 7-6(2), 6-2 in the first round before stunning 17th seed Borna Coric 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the third round.
Here, he beat Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-3, 7-6(7) to book his place in the fourth round of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the very first time in his career. The victory also guaranteed Eubanks a place in the top 100 of the world rankings come Monday.
Coco Gauff congratulated her friend on the achievement by sharing an image of the two FaceTiming after the match on Instagram.
"Top 100 for the giraffe," Gauff captioned her story.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Korda shared a video of Eubanks converting his match point and captioned it:
"Deserves all the good in the world," Korda wrote on his Instagram story.
Ben Shelton congratulated the 26-year-old on his win as well, adding a heart emoji and a 100 emoji on his Instagram story.
After beating Gregoire Barrere, Christopher Eubanks will face Adrian Mannarino in the fourth round of the Miami Open. It will be the very first meeting between the two, with the winner facing either fourth seed Daniil Medvedev or Quentin Halys in the quarterfinals.
Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton could not join Christopher Eubanks in the fourth round at Miami Open 2023
Coco Gauff's stay in the women's singles tournament in Miami, meanwhile, was a short one as she suffered a third-round exit at the hands of 27th seed Anastasia Potapova. The teenager lost 6-7(8), 7-5, 6-2 to the Russian.
However, her chances of silverware in Miami are still alive, as she is competing in the women's doubles tournament as well, partnering up with Jessica Pegula. The pair are seeded second and booked their place in the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Asia Muhammad and Anna Dalinina. Gauff and Pegula will next face sixth seeds Elise Mertens and Storm Sanders.
Ben Shelton also faced an early exit at the 2023 Miami Open, falling to Adrian Mannarino in the second round. Like Gauff, he is also alive in doubles, reaching the quarterfinals with Tommy Paul. Sebastian Korda, on the other hand, is still recovering from the wrist injury he sustained at the Australian Open and hasn't been seen in action since then.
