Nick Kyrgios recently shared his thoughts on what he believes is lacking in Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, despite their recent dominance. The Aussie stated that the duo do not have enough aura compared to the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.

Nick Kyrgios's remarks on the Nothing Major podcast ignited reactions online. On Friday, a fan on X (formerly Twitter) took a dig at him over his Grand Slam record, pointing out that Kyrgios, who has yet to win a singles Major, might not be in a position to critique. In response, the 29-year-old defended his stance by claiming that while Sinner and Alcaraz are incredibly talented youngsters doing great things, they are yet to possess the same commanding aura as the Big Three.

“No context here at all lol. Media is in a bad spot that’s for sure. Compared to Novak , Federer, Nadal they are yet to have the aura that they have. They will for sure get there but realistically they are kids doing insane things. Do better. Potatoes.” Nick Kyrgios said

The Aussie has faced Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, as well as Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, but he is yet to go head-to-head with Carlos Alcaraz.

Kyrgios has defeated Rafael Nadal three times in their nine encounters on tour while bagging just one win out of seven clashes against Roger Federer.

Novak Djokovic is the only member of the Big Three against whom, Kyrgios has a positive head-to-head record, winning two of their three matches. However, the Serb's sole victory came at the Wimbledon final in 2022.

Kyrgios and Sinner faced just once, in the fourth round of the Miami Open, with the Italian coming out on top.

Kyrgios discussed his plans to return to the ATP Tour at the 2025 Australian Open in the same interview on the Nothing Major podcast. He also commented on his relationship with Jannik Sinner, saying that their mutual dislike is healthy for the sport.

“If I play Sinner at the Australian Open, everyone will be watching because there’s a contrast in personalities. We don’t like each other, and I think that’s a healthy thing in sport.” Nick Kyrgios added

The former World No.13 has been sidelined for nearly two years due to knee and wrist injuries that required surgery. He is set to return to action at the 2025 Brisbane International. Here, Kyrgios will also partner Novak Djokovic in the doubles tournament.

The 29-year-old is currently playing in the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi.
