Tennis fans recently reacted to Casper Ruud sporting a fresh new hairstyle ahaed of the 2025 Australian Open. Last year, Ruud made it to the third round of the Melbourne Major before bowing out of the competition.

The 26-year-old kicked off his 2025 season by representing Norway at the United Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage after losing to Czech Republic and Poland. However, the former World No.2 managed to secure victories in the matches he played against Tomas Machac and Hubert Hurkacz.

Since his stint at the United Cup, Casper Ruud has travelled to Melbourne to compete in the 2025 Australian Open. Following his arrival, the 26-year old was seen sporting a new haircut.

However, the hairstyle failed to impress many tennis fans, who took to social media to voice their opinions

Another fan humorously suggested that perhaps Carlos Alcaraz's barber was responsible for Ruud's unconventional haircut. Fans were equally unimpressed with the hairstyle the Spaniard has been sporting ahead of the Australian Open.

A look into Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz's best performance at the Australian Open

Casper Ruud's best performance at the Australian Open came in 2021 when he reached the fourth round. He was seeded 24th in the tournament and he began his campaign by defeating Jordan Thompson 6-3, 6-3, 2-1 ret. in the first round and then triumphed over Tommy Paul 3-6, 6-2 6-4, 7-5 in the second.

In the third round, Ruud overcame Radu Albot 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 but his campaign ended in the fourth round when he withdrew from his match against seventh seed Andrey Rublev due to a stomach muscle injury.

In 2024, Casper Ruud was seeded 11th at the Melbourne Major and he defeated Albert Ramos Vinolas 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 in the first round then triumphed over Max Purcell 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(7) in the second before falling to 19th seed Cameron Norrie 4-6, 7-(7), 4-6, 3-6 in the third round.

On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz achieved his best result at the Australian Open in 2024. He was seeded second in the tournament and defeated Richard Gasquet 7-6(5), 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 6-7(3),6-3, 7-6(3) in the second round

The Spaniard then went on to defeat Shang Juncheng 6-1, 6-1, 1-0 ret. and Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 in the third and fourth rounds, respectively, before losing to Alexander Zverev 1-6, 3-6, 7-6(2), 4-6 in the quarterfinals.
