Danielle Collins spoke about a change in her attitude that came with age, The 31-year-old's run at Australian Open 2025 came to an end after she lost 4-6, 4-6 to Madison Keys.

Collins entered the match after a fiery encounter with local girl Destanee Aiava, during which, the crowd took several potshots at her and she gave it back to them after the clash ended. However, the tenth seed could not replicate that against Keys, as the latter won to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Collins is known for her character and in-your-face attitude, and she spoke about this in her post-match press conference. The 31-year-old said that her attitude came with age.

"Maybe with age comes this attitude of 'This is it, we're gonna be ourselves and accept who I am and go for it. I think that's something I am really proud of that I have gotten to the point where I really don't care anymore about what people who aren't important to me think and that's been a really big thing,'" Collins said.

The 31-year-old, however, also claimed that her behaviour was in no way meant to disrespect anyone and is only a part of her personality.

"I think earlier in my career I was more concerned about what people think and I was more guarded aboutmy personality because I know I can be fiery and I know that can rub people the wrong way. I never want to hurt someone's feelings or be disrespectful to someone that I'm competing against, especially the people that I really respect."

Collins then competed at the Adelaide International and suffered a 6-7(6), 2-6 loss to Ons Jabeur before entering the Australian Open. Before beating Aiava in the second round, the American beat Ukrainian qualifier 7-6(4), 6-3 in the opening round.

Despite her third-round exit, Collins could make a return to the Top 10 of the WTA rankings.
