Danielle Collins' decision to bring her feud with Iga Swiatek to the forefront on social media has triggered fan backlash against the American. Collins' feud with the Pole started at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and more recently, it reared its ugly head at the 2025 United Cup.

Ahead of the final tie between the USA and Poland at the 2025 United Cup, the playing contingent from the respective nations greeted each other on the court. Collins' expression while shaking Swiatek's hand was caught on camera, and it was rather dismissive towards the Pole. Collins later set it as her profile picture on Instagram.

Most fans on X (formerly Twitter) were not happy with Danielle Collins over her choice of Instagram profile picture. Some suggested that such behavior is not expected from a 31-year-old.

""Slay!" "Icon!" "Queen!" No, she’s a mean 31-year-old loser," one fan wrote.
"What a mean, nasty*b*tch lmaooo. baited everyone into thinking she was retiring last year and then pulled the switch in the last moment. she's not even gonna be in top 100 by the end of 2025," another added.
"Very CHILDISH behavior for someone who will be 32 this year," another chimed in.
"Her one sided beef with Iga is the only way she stays relevant but at this point this is just becoming humiliating for her," yet another fan opined.
"Oh she wont be missed," one stated.

There were others who cited Collins' example to bemoan the increasing tendency among players to bring on-court conflicts over into their off-court lives.

"Tennis is a classy sport. Back in the day, players kept their rivalries on the court and showed respect off it. Now, it's all on social media—why? If Danielle doesn't win the AO (let's be real, she probably won't), this online drama will only make her look sill," commented one fan.
"Without Roger (Federer) and Rafa (Rafael Nadal), tennis is no longer a gentleman's sport. Someone is always criticizing and bullying someone else," another weighed in.

Danielle Collins stirred controversy after giving Iga Swiatek a piece of her mind following the pair's quarterfinal contest at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Pole won the match courtesy of the American retiring mid-match with injury. Later, Collins revealed at a press conference that she had called Swiatek out because the Pole had allegedly been insincere and fake.

Swiatek herself later spoke up about Collins' outburst and subsequent comments directed at the Pole.

Inevitably, after Danielle Collins' inflammatory remarks, Iga Swiatek was quizzed about her thoughts on the controversy. The Pole stated that she did not know what she had done to irk the American.

"Well, I won't argue about it, because I've never done anything nasty to her. I rather wanted to congratulate her on her successful career, because we all know that this is her last year on tour, Honestly, I don't know what she meant, because we didn't even have any interactions that could have caused her to say that to me," Swiatek said.

The five-time Major winner reiterated her stance in a later interview with WP SportoweFakty. On the tennis front though, it was Collins who had the last laugh at the 2025 United Cup, as the USA, spearheaded by Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz, won the mixed-team tennis event.
