Danielle Collins criticized Delta Airlines for not maintaining cleanliness and hygiene on the plane. The American also criticized the lack of cleaning supplies on board.
Collins suffered a second-round exit at the hands of Erika Andreeva at Abierto GNP Seguros 2024 in Monterrey, Mexico, losing 6-1, 3-6, 3-6. She received a bye in the first round as the No. 1 seed.
On her way back to New York, Collins was appalled by the lack of basic hygiene on the flight. The American called out Delta Airlines for not having cleaning supplies on board. She wrote on her Instagram story:
"Full flight and forced to sit in someone else's throw up from the previous flight for the next three hours. Seems logical that you wouldn’t have any cleaning supplies on board thank you delta."
The American will now participate at the 2024 US Open, which will be the final Grand Slam of her career. Collins announced earlier this year that she would retire at the end of the season.
She doesn't have the best record at her home Slam, having reached the second week only once in 2022. Collins has won just 7 matches at Flushing Meadows, losing 8.
Danielle Collins is known for her fierce attitude on and off the court
Danielle Collins does not mince her words while standing up for what she believes is right. She is well known for her fierce nature and outspoken personality.
She recently called out hecklers in the crowd for seemingly causing distractions during her match against Erika Andreeva at the 2024 Abierto GNP Seguros.
"What in the world? I don't get it. It's not that hard to let us play tennis and be supportive," she said.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she expressed her displeasure to the World No. 1 Iga Swiatek for not playing at the server's speed.
"There's like no one behind me. Play at the server's pace," Collins said.
She also called her 'insincere' in the press conference.
“I told Iga she didn’t have to be insincere about, you know, my injury," she said.
Earlier this year, Collins called out hecklers at the Madrid Open and asked them to have a little more respect for the players.
"You come out and you play. Come out here and do what I do, okay? Have a little more respect,” Collins said.
Danielle Collins has two titles under her belt in 2024, the Miami Open and the Charleston Open.
