India are all set to cross swords with Sweden in their World Group 1 clash of the Davis Cup 2024 to be staged at the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm. The tie between the two nations will take place across two days on Saturday and Sunday (September 14 and 15). India have never beaten Sweden in the history of the tournament, having lost all five of their ties so far.
N Sriram Balaji and Ramkumar Ramanathan will look to help India open their account with a comprehensive performance. On Day 1, Balaji and Ramanathan will play in their singles matches against Elias Ymer and Leo Borg, respectively. On Day 2, Balaji will face Borg while Ramanathan will be up against Ymer.
Balaji and Ramanathan will also pair up for their doubles match on the second day against Filip Bergevi and Andre Goransson.
Earlier this year, India blanked Pakistan 4-0 in Islamabad in the World Group 1 playoffs to secure their berth in the World Group 1 game. India will play in the Qualifiers next year if they beat Sweden in their upcoming clash.
Balaji recently participated in the US Open where he advanced to the second round of men’s doubles along with Argentina’s Guido Andreozzi. Ramanathan also has two doubles titles to show for his efforts.
