Martina Navratilova questioned the authenticity of former US President Donald Trump's assassination attempt. Navratilova expressed her scepticism about the oddly sized dressing on Trump's right ear, suggesting it might be a public relations stunt rather than a genuine medical necessity.

The incident unfolded on July 13, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was addressing a passionate crowd. The rally took a dramatic turn when a gunman, later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire, striking the upper part of Trump's right ear.

Secret Service agents immediately shielded Trump and whisked him away to safety. Displaying his resilience, Trump raised his fist in the air as he was led away by Secret Service agents. The attack resulted in the deaths of Crooks and a spectator, while two others were injured.

Two days after the incident, Trump made his first public appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on July 15. Sporting a massive square-shaped bandage over his right ear, he addressed the crowd, but it wasn't his words that captured the public's attention—it was the peculiar bandage.

Social media platforms buzzed with speculation and conspiracy theories, with some users sharing an old picture of Trump without the bandage, implying the assassination attempt was a hoax.

Navratilova, known for her outspoken criticism of Trump, didn't hold back in sharing her thoughts on the matter. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she called out what she perceived as a publicity stunt, writing:

"Of course- this is obviously a PR stunt- the day after the shooting he had no dressing on his ear… not even a band-Aid."

The 18-time Grand Slam champion made another tweet adding that the shape of the bandage looks like a "white tea bag without the string".

"Looks like a white tea bag without the string…", she added.

Martina Navratilova slammed Donald Trump for refusing to acknowledge the victim's family following an assassination attempt.

During Trump's rally in Pennsylvania, a spectator, later identified as firefighter Corey Comperatore, was killed by the bullet. After the incident, Comperatore's wife, Helen, disclosed that Trump had not reached out to their family to offer his condolences.

Navratilova took to social media to label Trump a psychopath and criticized his lack of empathy.

"The empathy gene is totally missing in trump- which is what makes him a psychopath," Martina Navratilova wrote on X.
