Denis Shapovalov celebrated his five-year anniversary with his fiancee Mirjam Bjorklund. The couple started dating in 2019 and became engaged in July 2023.

Shapovalov and Bjorklund are both currently competing in the grass swing. The Canadian, who has been struggling with his form for the past few years, made his return to tennis this year after suffering a knee injury during Wimbledon last year. He kicked off his grass swing with a straight-set defeat at the Surbiton Trophy Challenger against Aleksandar Vukic in the opening round.

Shapovalov then competed at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart where he started with a hard-fought straight-set win against Matteo Martineau. His run was ended in the second round by Matteo Berrettini. The Canadian is currently ranked 120 in the ATP rankings.

On the other hand, Bjorklund, also a tennis player, has won 10 singles and two doubles ITF titles and also a WTA 125 Challenger. She has played in the main draw of every Grand Slam apart from the Australian Open.

The Swede kicked off her grass swing in the qualifiers of the ITF Great Britain 07A with a comfortable straight-set win against Gabia Paskauskas but was ousted by Harmony Tan in the subsequent round. She then headed off to the Rothesay Open qualifiers but failed to make it into the main draw after losing to Talia Gibson in the opening round. She is currently ranked 594 in singles.

Denis Shapovalov shared an adorable picture with Mirjam Bjorklund on X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate their five-year anniversary. He posted a selfie of the couple together set against a beautiful backdrop.

Mirjam Bjorklund talked about the importance of having Denis Shapovalov by her side during her matches after her first-round win at the 2023 Miami Open. She knew that it wasn't possible for the Canadian to be around every time but loved having his support whenever possible and mentioned that she also trusted his game sense.

“Denis can’t be around all the time when I’m playing events, so it’s super nice to have him support me in the box and I think he has a great eye for my game and for tennis in general, so I really trust him when he tells me things and when he coaches me, but he’s very keen on the fact that he’s not my coach.”
“He’s just my boyfriend and supporting [me] in those moments, but I do really appreciate that and I know that I can trust what he’s saying, so it’s very reassuring when I have him there.”

Denis Shapovalov will head to Wimbledon next by exercising his protected ranking following which, he will represent Team Canada at the Paris Olympics.
