Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime led Canada to the knockout phase of the Davis Cup once again. The duo did not lose any singles matches during the group stages in 2024 and drew applause from Shapovalov's fiance, Mirjam Bjorklund.

Denis Shapovalov has always been at his best while representing Canada at the Davis Cup, and his performance at the 2024 edition was no different. The 25-year-old battled past Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina, 7-5, 6-3, and Eero Vasa of Finland, 7-6 (2), 6-2, in his first two singles group stage matches at the 2024 Davis Cup.

He continued his red-hot form against Dan Evans of Great Britain, defeating him 6-0, 7-5. These wins, combined with Felix Auger-Aliassime's triumphs over Sebastian Baez, Otto Virtanen, and Jack Draper, have allowed Canada to win all their group-stage ties and advance to the tournament's knockout phase.

The qualification was celebrated by many across the tennis world, including Denis Shapovalov's fiance, Mirjam Bjorklund, who took to Instagram to share a post from Tennis Canada announcing the team's achievement.

Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime were integral to Canada's maiden title at the Davis Cup in 2022. The duo was joined by Vasek Pospisil in team Canada, who were awarded a wildcard to compete in the Finals group stage. They qualified for the knockout phase as group B runners-up, winning two out of their three ties.

In the quarterfinals, Canada faced Germany. While Shapovalov lost Jan-Lennard Struff, Auger-Aliassime bettered Oscar Otte to level the score, and Pospisil-Shapovalov defeated Kevin Krawietz-Tim Putz to win the tie. In the semifinals, Shapovalov again lost his singles match against Italy's Lorenzo Sonego, but in the two remaining contests, the Canadians again mounted a comeback to reach the final.

Canada faced Australia in the 2022 Davis Cup title contest and emerged victorious after Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis and Auger-Aliassime defeated Alex de Minaur. Their title defense in 2023 came to an end in the quarterfinals against underdogs Finland.
