Daria Kasatkina snapped back at a troll who questioned her place in the top 10 WTA rankings. The Russian finished her 2024 season as the World No.9.

Kasatkina recently concluded her campaign at the 2025 Brisbane International. She was seeded third in the tournament and she began her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She defeated Peyton Stearns 7-6(7), 4-6, 7-5 in the opening round. However, she was eliminated in the third round after losing to qualifier Polina Kudermetova 6-1, 2-6, 5-7.

Following the conclusion of her campaign in Brisbane, a tennis fan took to social media to express doubts about how Kasatkina has a place in the top 10 world rankings when she doesn't perform consistently.

“"Kasatkina is consistent" Let's take a look at her big tournaments results from last year...."

They suggested that the Russian only excels in WTA 500 tournaments and mentioned that having consistency in those tournaments doesn't matter if she is unable to perform well in bigger tournaments as a top 10 player.

“The girl only performs at 500s, and let me tell you nobody cares about 500s consistency if you don't show up at big tournaments AS A TOP 10 PLAYER," the troll added.

In response, Daria Kasatkina calmly addressed the criticism, stating that she didn't understand how her performance may have bothered the fan,

“Didn’t know it bothers you so much," Kasatkina wrote.

Daria Kasatkina finished the 2024 season with two titles under her belt. She won the 2024 Rothesay International in Eastbourne by defeating Leylah Fernandez in the final and then won the Ningbo Open by triumphing over Mirra Andreeva in the title match.

The World No.9 also finished as the runner-up at the Adelaide International, Abu Dhabi Open, Charleston Open, and the Korea Open.

Daria Kasatkina is next scheduled to compete at the 2025 Adelaide International, where she has been seeded fourth. The WTA 500 hard court tournament will take place from January 6 to January 11, 2025, at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre in Adelaide, Australia.

In 2024, Kasatkina finished as the runner-up at the Adelaide International. She kicked off her campaign by defeating qualifier Claire Liu with a score of 6-4, 6-3 in the first round. She then faced off against qualifier Anna Kalinskaya in the second round and ultimately emerged victorious with a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 score.

The Russian advanced to the final after her quarterfinals opponent, Laura Siegemund, withdrew from their match due to a left leg injury and in the semifinals, the second seed Jessica Pegula also withdrew ahead of their match due to gastrointestinal illness.

Kasatkina fell short of clinching the 2024 Adelaide International title after losing to Jelena Ostapenko with a score of 3-6, 2-6 in the championship match.

Following the conclusion of the WTA 500 hard court tournament in Adelaide, Daria Kasatkina is expected to compete at the 2025 Australian Open. Her best results at the Melbourne Major include reaching the third round in 2016, where she faced eventual runner-up Serena Williams, and in 2022, where she was defeated by Iga Swiatek.
