Amidst the heavy showers in London, one question that has been on the mind of many tennis fans is about the refund policy at Wimbledon. The Rain and Curtailment of Play Policy which falls under Clause 18 of the Conditions of Sale determines the criteria that need to be matched for a spectator to be eligible for a refund.

First and foremost, Clause 18 applies to every day of the Championships including the final Sunday.

If less than one hour of play has taken place on the Court for which the holder has bought the ticket, the ticket holder will be successfully refunded the entire price, whereas, if the time of play is more than an hour but less than two hours, then the refund will be limited to half the price of the ticket(s).

For ticket holders of Ground Passes (No.3 Court, 12 Court, 18 Court, and The Hill where the Centre Court and No.1 Court are screened), they will also be eligible for a full refund if the average amount of play time in the courts accessible via the passes is less than one hour. This, however, only applies to those who purchased their tickets before 5:00 pm.

Refunds are calculated per the above-stated criteria and also according to the Referee's record of how much game time has taken place. The amount of play an individual spectator has watched is not a factor. The Referee's decision on how much play time has taken place will be final and individuals will be subjected to refunds based on these decisions.

Only the successful applicants will be eligible for refunds under Clause 18 and refunds will be automatically paid to their credit or debit cards they used for purchase. If requested by the AELTC (All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club), the user shall return their ticket(s) without any delay.

However, Clause 18 does not cover the On-the-Day tickets purchased for Wimbledon through any of the ticket resale schemes operated by the AELTC as the money is donated to charities.
