Nick Kyrgios recently reacted to Caroline Garcia's attempt at a tweener during a practice session in New York as she prepares for the US Open. Known for his flair and unpredictability on the court, the Aussie frequently uses the between-the-legs shot, or "tweener," during rallies and Garcia mentioned that she was trying to imitate his style.

On Tuesday, (August 20), Caroline Garcia shared a video from her training session on her Instagram story. In the video, she humorously failed to execute the tweener as the ball sailed past her. In the caption, she announced her arrival in New York for the US Open and asked her fans to watch the video till the end to witness her attempt the shot like Kyrgios.

“Well arrived in NY @usopen! Wait till the end to see me doing it the @kingkyrgios way” - Caroline Garcia captioned

A couple of hours after the Frenchwoman posted, Kyrgios re-shared the video on his Instagram story, captioning it as a good try, accompanied by a string of cold-faced and laughing emojis.

The 2024 edition of the US Open will mark Garcia’s 12th appearance at the tournament. Her best performance came in 2022 when she reached the semifinals, defeating the likes of Kamilla Rakhimova, Anna Kalinskaya, Bianca Andreescu, Alison Riske-Amritraj, and Coco Gauff, before losing to Tunisia's Ons Jabeur.

Nick Kyrgios's best moment at the US Open came in 2022 when he reached the quarterfinals, his last appearance in the tournament. The Aussie began his campaign by defeating compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round, followed by victories over Benjamin Bonzi and J.J. Wolf in the second and third rounds. He then secured an impressive win against Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round before losing to Karen Khachanov in a five-set thriller in the quarterfinals.

The 29-year-old did not participate in the US Open the following year due to knee and wrist injuries that required surgery. However, in August 2024, Nick Kyrgios revealed that he was back in shape and eager to compete against the top players again. He'll mark his return by teaming up with Naomi Osaka for a mixed doubles exhibition themed 'Mixed Madness' during Fan Week at the US Open.

Kyrgios will also take part in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in New York, an exhibition event organized by Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou, and Alex Popyrin, father of Alexei Popyrin. The 29-year-old will compete alongside Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, and others.
