Carlos Alcaraz has undergone a makeover ahead of the 2024 Australian Open, debuting a new hairstyle. However, the Spaniard's new look has failed to impress tennis fans, with many of them expressing frustration with his longtime barber for his latest look.

After an intense training block with his coaching team in Spain, Alcaraz is headed to Melbourne in the lead-up to the Australian Open, scheduled to commence on January 12. Although the 21-year-old chose to skip all warm-up events before the Major, he will feature in two exhibition matches at the Rod Laver Arena prior to his campaign.

Before traveling to Australia, Carlos Alcaraz paid a visit to his barber and got a new haircut, opting for a buzz cut with a sharp fade on the sides.

Tennis fans were disappointed by Alcaraz's new hairstyle, with several of them asserting that they didn't want the World No. 3 to win his maiden Australian Open title sporting this look. One fan even suggested that Andre Agassi's iconic blonde mullet wig would be better for the momentous occasion.

"Omg this feels like a betrayal. I don't want this haircut when he wins the AO," one fan commented.
"It's awful. I don't want him in the winners' photoshoot with this hair. He can wear Agassis old wig, just not this," a fan posted.
"He can only soothe his fanbase's eyes with aus open trophy. Otherwise we won't forgive for this blasphemy," another fan wrote.

Fans continued to lament the 21-year-old's "prison crew cut" look, which continued a pattern of hairstyles that have sparked dismay among his supporters.

"Ah, the prison crew cut," one fan shared.
"Why does he hate himself?" another fan wrote.
"Ruined my day," said another.

Others, meanwhile, directed their frustration at Carlos Alcaraz's barber Victor for "ruining" his hair, especially since the stylist has frequently copped criticism for his "crimes" against the Spaniard's appearance.

"Look how they massacred my boy. 😭 Someone needs to forcibly remove those clippers from that mans hands. It is sweet that Alcaraz is such a good egg that he continues to support his local barber," one fan posted.
"Victor Barber back there smiling like he doesn’t know he is maybe the second most hated man in the entire tennis community," another fan chimed in.
"Alcaraz fan base beefing with Victor the barber will never not be funny when every other fanbase beefing each other 🤣," a fan joked.
"That barber ruined his hair 😂," said yet another.

Carlos Alcaraz will make another major change to his appearance if he triumphs at the 2025 Australian Open. In an interview with Marca, the Spaniard disclosed his intention to get a kangaroo tattoo, continuing his tradition of commemorating his maiden win at each Major with a special tribute.

Alcaraz also emphasized his desire to complete the career Grand Slam at this year's Australian Open, which would make him the youngest man in history to accomplish the impressive feat.

"I have it in mind, I have in mind to get a tattoo of the kangaroo. I'm going to try to have a good holiday first. For me it's super important to be able to disconnect from tennis," Carlos Alcaraz said.
"And to come back fresh for the pre-season so that it's brilliant, brutal, to arrive in Australia in the best possible shape both tennis-wise, physically and mentally. The goal is to complete the 'Grand Slam' in Melbourne," he added.

Despite his determination, Carlos Alcaraz will face a difficult task as he attempts to clinch his maiden title at the Melbourne Slam, having never advanced past the quarterfinals of the Major.
